David Trubridge - Flax

David Trubridge

Flax is based on the long slender leaves of the indigenous flax plant (or harakeke in Maori). It has long been grown for its valuable fibre. There is a Maori proverb about preserving important resources: If you cut the central stalk of the flax bush, where will the bellbird feed? Maori would only take some of the outer leaves to ensure an ongoing supply.

Flax is often placed in living rooms, wide entrance entrances, larger bedrooms, and low, over dining tables. Depending on your space, we can recommend an appropriate size. We usually have a sample pendant on hand that you can take home to make sure you get the sizing correct.

Assembly: Flax pendants are designed to be assembled by the end user and come complete with 2m white flex, ceiling rose, bulb holder and good assembly instructions. There are also instructional videos available to help. (A globe is not supplied as standard). We do however offer an assembly service, ($50 per pendant) and can also supply a range of globe options.
