Designed for an art collector, Blue Moon House by BayleyWard is a celebration of craftsmanship characterised by a rich layering of colours and textures. The refurbishment creates a careful balance between old with new, stripping back the interior of the historic South Yarra home to transform it into a contemporary, light-filled space.

Natural materials, such as timber and stone, ground the scheme while brass details – including light fittings, window frames, and a dramatic stair balustrade – give the fit-out a luxe edge.

Tongue & Groove solid engineered European oak floorboards drive a holistic visual identity throughout the home, and have also been used to craft the treads and risers of the stairs for a seamless finish.

The Classic Grade textured finish of the Tongue & Groove timber boards elegantly complements the period details of the home. The soft grey wash and warm undertones of the Ardesia colour echoes the soft greys of the kitchen and joinery to create a subtle yet sophisticated backdrop for the moody feature walls and jewel toned textiles throughout.

In keeping with the crafted approach, the floorboards have been laid in a graphic custom pattern. These dynamic lines draw the eye around the space and add visual interest to create an appropriately dramatic setting for the client’s art collection.
