Nestled in the Brisbane suburb of Hamilton, Scorpia by 

 is a striking architectural statement that blends bold, sculptural form with an elegant palette. 

Taking inspiration from the Mediterranean, the three-storey home sits in thoughtful dialogue with its hilltop setting and offers expansive views over Brisbane’s cityscape. The interior evokes the relaxed luxury of a Mediterranean villa, with a neutral palette rich in texture.

Tongue & Groove solid European Oak boards in the 

 finish play a key role in the scheme, complementing the Venetian plaster walls and travertine details.

The Tongue & Groove flooring is used throughout the open-plan living and dining areas and its versatile neutral cool tones anchor the space to create a sophisticated foundation. The boards are specified in the slender 

 format, which brings a sense of craft and refinement to the interior scheme.

Natural light floods the home through strategically placed windows and a central atrium, accentuating the timber flooring’s natural grain and enhancing its tactile, organic quality. 

This elevates the seamless connection between indoors and out, transforming the home into a contemporary, resort-style retreat for family living.

The carefully considered material choices reflect Scorpia's core design philosophy: a harmonious balance of luxury and restraint, where every element serves a distinct purpose.


Freado

 was approached to transform a former worker’s cottage in New Farm, Brisbane, into a characterful family home, he drew inspiration from the Queensland vernacular – most notably the iconic Queenslander. “The home had to be light and bright yet still have a sense of personality, warmth, and depth,” says Favell. 

“The New Farm Residence design focused on creating a modern, elegant extension to the worker’s cottage to embrace the lifestyle of the contemporary Queenslander.”

Wategos Beach in Byron Bay is a tranquil spot, much-loved for its pristine natural beauty, and it was this breathtaking landscape that inspired the architecture and interior palette of Brahimy House by

Before its current incarnation as one of the most impressive homes in Norwood, Adelaide, this sandstone villa was a tired dwelling in need of a full overhaul – and one that its current owners had spent more than five years dreaming of owning. Norwood Residence was eventually put on the market and bought by a friend of the couple, who then sold it to them six months later. Split symmetrically across two titles, it was a golden opportunity to subdivide the property. With the design vision of 

, however, the clients transformed it into a spectacular family home.

Transforming an ageing interior is a complex task, and it takes a strong creative vision to bring dated homes into the present. When architect John Deuchrass, Principal Architect at

A small 1882 worker’s cottage in Sydney’s inner-west suburb of Leichhardt has been transformed into a stunning family home that maximises the site by

The typical L-shaped layout of the home has been substantially reimagined, taking advantage of the sloped site to create a cascading arrangement of volumes that steps down from the street level to the rear living area and garden. Skylights flood the interior with natural light, bringing the interior to life.

, was approached to design a family home in Brisbane with a sleek, dark interior, the challenge was to avoid an interior that felt oppressive. “The client is particularly fond of concrete paired with black tones,” says Maddison. “We had to find ways to incorporate nature and warmth – and the choice of finishes significantly contributes to softening the concrete structure.”
