Perched above the parklands of Rushcutters Bay, Tree House is a serene family retreat brought to life by Georgina Wilson Associates. The renovation of this 1980s-era apartment focused on crafting a timeless, textural interior that draws from its leafy surrounds and channels a quietly luxurious mood.
To ground the space and connect the interiors, Wilson specified Tongue & Groove solid European oak Chevron floorboards in the soft-toned Graupa finish.
“We were after something timeless, not trendy,” she explains. “The European Oak parquetry in Graupa gave us the perfect starting point. It offered warmth, softness and a touch of Parisian elegance that reflected the natural surroundings.”
The chevron pattern runs seamlessly throughout the apartment, resolving awkward transitions in the original floorplan and unifying the kitchen and living areas.
“The consistent flooring helped tie everything together,” says Wilson. “It added quiet detail and movement underfoot, giving the apartment a sense of rhythm and depth without overwhelming the space.”
Paired with Calacatta Oro marble, Shaker-style oak cabinetry, tan leather and softly clouded Venetian plaster, the Tongue & Groove flooring enriches the interior’s layered material palette.
Its natural warmth and subtle texture bring depth and cohesion to the space, reinforcing the project’s celebration of tactility, tone and timelessness.
“Tongue & Groove understood exactly what we were aiming to create,” says Wilson.
“Their professionalism and product knowledge made it easy to deliver a result that felt both considered and high impact.”
