Located in the small town of Bangalow in Byron Bay, The Cloud is a colourful residential renovation designed by THOSE Architects in collaboration with mother-daughter interior design duo, Alida and Miller. The inspiring project transforms a dilapidated 1980s brick house into a fresh family home resplendent in bold colour and texture.
The previously compartmentalised living room, dining room, and kitchen have been opened up into one enormous living space, with a dramatic 12-foot-high cathedral ceiling. This voluminous space is then layered with colour and rich texture – including a vibrant blue-and-white-tiled band that defines the kitchen.
Colourful rugs, sumptuous textiles, and patinated leather furnishings paired with verdant potted plants complete the picture, while a tasselled swing seat, kitsch animal sculptures, and cage-style pendant lights add a playful touch.
Tongue & Groove solid engineered European oak floorboards in the Penza colour create a dramatic backdrop for this kaleidoscopic interior. The depth of the chocolate brown tones gives a hint of opulence and intensifies the natural warmth of aged oak.
The character of the floorboards is further enhanced through the hand-scraped pre-distressed style, which – like the rest of the richly patinated interior – tells the story of the client’s passions and unique style.
Discover how our three-layered solid European oak boards can elevate interiors with these inspiring projects, from poetic residences to commercial spaces, restaurants, hotels, and bars.
